Kubota B-Series - Changing Oils and Filters
(Pictures are of a
B7800, concepts apply to other models)
Before performing any of
the following operations, be sure that engine is stopped and has been given
adequate time to cool down |
|
Changing Engine Oil
-
Remove drain plug from bottom of the
engine while engine is still somewhat warm (allow plenty of time for
engine to cool down) to drain oil into oil pan.
-
Put drain plug back in when oil has
drained
-
Fill with new oil to the higher
groove of the dipstick.
|

|
|
Replacing The Engine Oil Filter
-
Make sure that engine is off and has been given sufficient time to cool
down
-
Remove old oil filter
-
Apply a small amount of engine oil to the rubber seal of the new filter
-
Tighten filter quickly until it touches the mounting surface
-
Tighten filter an additional ½ turn
-
When a new filter is installed,
engine oil typically decreases a little. Ensure that oil does not leak
through the seal of the filter, then refill oil as needed.

Changing Air Cleaner Primary Element
-
Remove air
cleaner cover by undoing the hook and then rotating the cover clockwise to
take it off.
-
Cleaning
the filter:
If filter
only contains dust: Blow compressed air (under 30psi, 205kPa, 2.1kgf/cm2)
from the inside of the filter to clean it.
If filter contains carbon or oil: Soak filter in detergent for 15 minutes,
wash and rinse with water and let it air dry. When filter has completely
dried, use a light to check for tears or holes.
3. Reinstall
air cleaner cover (make sure that arrows are properly aligned).
Replace
air filter yearly, or after every 6th cleaning, whichever comes
first.
Also make
sure evacuator valve is not blocked.
Evacuator valve should be
opened once a week, or daily when used in a dusty place in order to get rid
of larger dust particles. |
