I have a 1998 New Holland 1715 tractor that I bought used. The engine takes awhile to turn start without having to warm the glow-plug everytime. I have a long tractor that usually starts without having to warm the plugs to start. The NH will need to warm the plugs even if the engine was just turned off and needed to be started within 5 minutes. The second problem is that the engine make a very loud mechanical noise has of the pistons were slapping or the sound of a bearing going out. I know diesel make a rattle, but my 1981 Long 360 runs very smooth. Is there a problem with the glow-plugs, fuel injectors, water in the fuel, normal knocking sound for this model, bad engine or ? I just ordered some parts from this company. Need help!
