I have a fluid leak at the base of my steering wheel. I have removed all the covers and braket to inspect..and found like no real evidence of leaks at the fittings or around the pump. The base of the steering wheell however, is wet with fluid. It seems to be comming out of the steering shaft somehow. I have a manual however I could find nothing regarding the shaft/base of wheel. Can you help me? What parts should I get for any repairs? Your help is much appreciated. Thanks Jerry

The only place that fluid really can be comming from is the pump. There are no rebuild kits for that part. As you can see from the diagram, there is no fluid running up the shaft. I'm not sure why you are seeing it up there. Do you have trouble steering?

No trouble steering... just the fluid leak. And it is very wet at thebase of the steering wheel. More so than anywhere else other than the floor. The leak is not substancial..only anoyance and some fluid loss. Please advise as to best way to repair. Are there no gaskets that can be replaced? I know that I will need to investigate further... do paper spray tests etc. Could there be a gasket leak that would force leak up the steering column? Please advise and forward info on parts cost.. Thanks Jerry

There are no replacable parts in the steering pump, its only available as a complete assembly. I'd concure that its a gasket leak, I don't see what else it could be. Like you said, you can do a paper test to nail down the exact source but I think your going to find that this requires a steering box. PN# 32771-37100
