My ford 8600 tractor was picked up at auction. I found it to have a broken high-low shift lever. I replaced the lever, but it will not go in to high range. The gears and coupler seem to look ok. I didn't disassemble the transmission so I am not sure of the condition of the sliding coupler but it moves from neutral to low very easily. Am I overlooking something simple or is there a problem in the shaft alignment? Don't want to have to split the tractor if there is any way around it. Please help! Thanks a bunch. Jason Wagner
