Adjustments and Service Checks Before doing the following two tests, put all controls in neutral, set the parking brake, and shut off the engine.
|
Test 1: Range gear shift lever safety switch
|
-
Shift into H, M, L, or reverse.
-
Make sure that your foot is not on the accelerator and that the hydraulic lift lever is set to “Neutral” (if equipped).
-
Turn key to “Start”.
-
Engine should not crank. If it does, have your RTV serviced.
|
Test 2: Hydraulic outlet lever safety switch (if equipped)
|
-
Shift hydraulic outlet lever to “On”.
-
Make sure that your foot is not on the accelerator and that the gear shift and hydraulic lift lever are set to “Neutral” (if equipped).
-
Turn key to “Start”.
-
Engine should not crank. If it does, have your RTV serviced.
|
Applying Grease:
|
Apply multipurpose grease to the following places every 50 hours (or more often if you operate in a very wet or muddy location):
-
VHT link (grease fitting)
-
Battery terminals
-
Cargo lift cylinder pivot (if equipped, spray type grease)
-
Cargo bed pivot (spray type grease)
-
Parking brake pivot (spray type grease)
-
Range gear shift lever pivot (spray type grease)
-
4WD lever pivot (spray type grease)
-
VHT pressure release (grease fitting)
|
Oiling:
|
Oil the following parts:
-
Accelerator wire
-
Hand throttle cable (if equipped)
|
VHT Neutral Spring
|
-
Park RTV on a level surface
-
Set parking brake
-
Set gear shift to “Neutral”
-
Set hydraulic lift cylinder (if equipped) to “Neutral” with restricting plate
-
Start engine
-
Press the accelerator several times, engine should return to idling immediately after taking your foot off the pedal. If it does not do so immediately, have your RTV serviced.
|
Wheel Bolt Torque
|
Check wheel bolts regularly to 55.3-66.4 ft-lbs
|
Adjusting Fan Belt Tension Fan Belt should have a deflection between .28 - .35” (7 – 9mm) when the belt is pressed in the middle of the span
|
-
Park RTV on a flat surface, raise cargo bed, and turn off engine
-
Check belt for damage, if belt is damaged, replace
-
Apply some pressure to belt halfway between pulleys to check tension
-
If tension is not what it should be, loosen the alternator mounting bolts and, using a lever placed between the alternator and the engine block pull the alternator out until the tension is correct
|
Cleaning the Muffler Be especially careful with this procedure. Be sure that exhaust system is cool before doing any type of work on it. Wear Safety goggles, as well as a face mask as drainage from muffler contains harmful chemicals.
|
-
Turn off engine
-
Remove drain plug from muffler
-
Start RTV and run it at half throttle for 1 minute
-
Turn engine off, put plug back in, and tighten bolts to 35 ft-lbs of torque
Clean muffler after the first 50 hours of use and every 100 hours thereafter.
Also inspect muffler for cracks or holes. If there is any damage to the muffler replace it.
|
Cleaning the Spark Arrester
|
-
Remove spark arrester from muffler
-
Shake spark arrester to remove large particles
-
Clean with a wire brush. If necessary, soak it in solvent and clean with brush again
-
Inspect the spark arrester once it has been cleaned. Replace the assembly if there are any cracks, holes, etc. in the screen or weldments
-
Reinstall spark arrester to muffler
Having a clean spark arrester will enhance the performance of your machine
