O-ring initially appeared too small to fit as it is very stiff and needed to expand ~1/4” to fit onto the hydraulic oil sight glass fitting. So I tried coating the o-ring with hydraulic oil then used a heat gun on low setting to thoroughly warm up o-ring on both sides. Then I used a very small flat screwdriver to carefully work the o-ring over the sight glass threads to the o-ring groove at the top of the fitting. No leaks!
