Alternator fan belt would not fit onto the pulley, even though the pulley was loose. Removed the entire adjustment bolt to gain a little extra slack, but even this was not enough to get the new belt on. So, I took the bottom bolt out of the alternator (like you were going to replace the alternator), then put the belt on, put the bolts back, and worked like a charm.
