My old gear shaft was worn so bad on a used snowblower. The key had worn a 45 degree angle and the shaft had scarring and wear marks. Replacing was essential and not hard but time consuming. You'll need to disassemble all bearings, sprocket and gear shaft, recommend using new bearings and sprocket upon reinstallation. Pro-tip, use Loctite on all set screws.
