As others mentioned, get the gland loose (completely) before removing the cylinder from the loader. For my unit I had to buy a 4 mm gland nut wrench (aka face spanner). Pin holes on the gland are probably dependent on serial number/age, so measure before buying. Also, my pistons have an o-ring groove with a larger o-ring than came in the kit. On one I just reused the old o-ring, on the other I bought a 1.5 mm x25 mm ID viton o-ring that seemed to be the correct size and fit well. Still waiting on feedback from Kubota on what the disconnect is with the kit. To bend the oil seal into a kidney shape, I drop three finishing nails into a scrap of wood, snipped the head off and put some wire shrink wrap over them. I stepped the height of the nails down by the width of the seal. It worked and meant I didn't have to buy an install tool. Final tip, the nut on the end of the shaft on mine was 28 mm, and I used an impact wrench to remove.

The interior wiper seal is the toughest to get install. It is pretty stiff. Just work one side of the seal into the grove and work the rest in with you fingers. Tough but it will go. I have two of these front end loaders and this is the 3rd cylinder I've rebuilt. Quick and fairly easy.

My shade tree tips : break the cap loose before you pull the hydraulic cylinder off the tractor , it kept spinning in the vise , buy a seal twister tool for installing the inside seals , other than that it was easy and my cylinder is now leak free !

Not the first time I've rebuilt a cylinder so I had all the proper tools I needed. From the removal of the cylinder, rebuild time and reinstallation took about 1 1/2 hours. Easy job when you have good quality parts. Thanks Messick's.
