On my B2601, it's a fairly quick off and on. A very small amount of hydraulic oil will come out when the filter is removed, so you'll want a catch pan underneath.

I bought engine oil and the filter from a local Kubota dealer but they gave me the wrong filter for my B2601 so I ordered the correct one from Messicks. I didn't realize it was the wrong one until I drained the oil, so I refilled with oil with the old filter on, hoping the oil level was below the filter location when the new correct filter came in. Turns out this is the case, and you can easily replace the filter without draining the oil without any mess. Good to know if you run into the same situation.
