I removed the old switch and re- routed the wiring back up by the outside of the left hand handle inside the fiberglass covering. I drilled a 13/16 hole in the front facing fiberglass and installed an on/ off rocker switch. Installed some male and female spade clips and attached the wires. I simply move the rocker switch one way to crank the machine then move it back to allow the mower to move forward. No more grass, dirt, water etc. to worry about. No more removing the floor of the mower or the deck to access the switch. I am 61 so this safety thing needs to be easier access to replace.

Unbolt the foot plate. Pry up the left side and use a wood block to keep it lifted. Brake sensor is hid behind the left brake mechanism...blow the area out. I traced the wire harness that leads up to the sensor in the left arm...follow it from the arm sensor to where it splits off and goes down under the footboard. This will lead u to the brake sensor. A Phillips screwdriver needed for the two screws holding the sensor. There is a thin metal backing plate that accepts the screws...don't lose this as it is needed to install the new sensor. The screw heads are on the inside of the frame channel...you may have to lift the footboard even more if you cant take it off completely...i only raised it enough to get my screwdriver in there. That's the hardest part...installation is just the reverse...2 screws and your done. I highly recommend using a magnetic screwdriver.

Drop mower deck to low position, removed bolts to allow movement of foot plate. Placed a board between plate a frame to get access to two Phillips head acres and nut plate on left front side. Simple removed and replaced switch. Diagram is available on messicks site for location. First look at this several months ago I didn’t see the screws, take time and review and very simple job.
