The real problem was galling caused by dirt in the friction washers. I cleaned the washers well and lubed them with a tiny amount of gun grease before reinstallation. The time involved was more in cleaning and adjustment than in the removal and reinstallation. If your throttle lever gets very stiff, i recommend removal , cleaning, lubrication and reinstallation instead of waiting till you have to replace a broken lever. My lever broke because the increased friction caused the lever to shear at the weld due to the increased stress and constant flexing. The throttle is now very smooth and takes very little force to rotate. ***CLEAN AND LUBRICATE***
