Remove old retaining rings first. Universals are normally very hard to remove. Use a hammer and brass rod to point out each side. Clean the joint and reinstall the new universal. Caution is needed to not disrupt the needle bearings during installation.

We use a engine hoist to hold and remove the rear axle while installing the u joints, with a special adapter that goes into the engine hoist and to the hitch on the rear axle with the kubota on a lift all is done standing up and not on the ground.
