Installation Tips

(6 hours)
My front end loader and 3 point was weak and stuttering on my Kubota B8200HST. I noticed that I was losing hydraulic fluid and found it was leaking into my engine oil. The only place the leak could occur was through the shaft seal on the external hydraulic pump. The pump is above the hydraulic reservoir so I didn't need to drain the system to remove the pump. After removing the inlet and outlet lines came the hard part. There are 3 bolts and 1 nut attaching the pump to the engine. The nut is on a stud that extends too far to allow the removal of the pump. To remove the pump I had to double nit the stud and remove it from the engine. Once the pump was remove the shaft seal replacement was easy. Removed the C clip holding it in and used a sharp punch to pierce the old seal and pried it loose then installed the new seal and C clip. On reassembly I installed a new gasket between the pump and engine then replaced the stud and nut with a new bolt and washer so it will be easier to remove if I have to do it again. Using new O-rings I attached the lower hydraulic line. Before attaching the upper line I filled the pump with hydraulic fluid. Checked the fluid level and started the tractor. Waited a couple minutes and the loader and 3 point now works as it should. Parts replaced were shaft seal, C clip, bolt/washer to replace stud/nut, pump to engine gasket and O-rings for inlet an outlet lines. Total for parts was about $25 before shipping. I saved a ton by doing myself.
