Pressure wash, degrease, scrub and clean anything and everything you can before starting to disassemble. The cleaner you can have things the less extra work required. The old seals come out easily and the new seals go on easily if you have the right size pipe/socket/seal driver to tap them in place. Installing these on my b2400 required rtv to reseal everything and I wasn’t aware of that so it required an extra tip. Have some rtv ready for re-assembly.

Can get it most of the way in (make sure it's seating evenly) and then just push it up with the knuckle and it'll finish seating. I used a floor jack to push the knuckle up (and thus finish seating the seal): need something to hold the knuckle up anyway in order to get the retaining ring in.

The original gasket has a metal race that will stay on the axle shaft. The new gasket doesn't require this, so be sure to remove it before putting the axle back together or it will not slide up enough to put the snap ring back on.

Cleaning both castings was important because of light rust. Part of the old seal was still on the tractor upper spindle and had to be removed and the spindle cleaned. When replacing the front final drive casting the gear and splined shaft has to be aliened carefully so the unit can be pushed into place. Make sure the retaining ring is completely in the groove before releasing the casting. We used a small hydraulic jack with a 6" 2x4 on top to hold it place. Tapping down with a leather hammer on the top of the axel helped seat the seal correctly. sealed gear cover and filled with gear oil. No more leaks...
