Jack up one front wheel of the tractor and try to turn it. If you hear a clicking sound it means the coupling has stripped. In the case of our Kubota M126GX the coupling failed after ten years of hard use. This tractor is used about three hours a day EVERY DAY from mid-November to mid-May for feeding cattle. In summer it's used with a round baler for about two months. The tractor gets regular cleaning and maintenance. First, download the tractor's service manual, WSM 9Y111-06841. You'll have to pay for this. Turn to page 1-S22, which shows how to gain access to these couplings. It's likely the front one that's stripped. With the spring (roll, tension) pins removed, the couplings can be slid along their splines. The tube through which the drive shaft passes can be pulled forward and tube and shaft lowered enough for the coupling to be slid off and replaced. There's just enough room for this; at least the front axle doesn't have to be dropped and moved forward. Use plenty of grease on the splines. Do the front coupling first and replace the spring pin, then the rear coupling.
