For a first timer, expect about 2-3 hours. If you’ve done this before, much shorter time. Stretch the boom out fully, and then the rod can be removed without taking the entire cylinder off of the boom. It helps to support the end of the boom from below with a jack to take some pressure off the pin for removal/installation. You will need a 42mm socket to remove the piston nut. Most of the seals are self explanatory to remove and replace. Put the piston seal in hot tap water while you disassemble everything else, and it will stretch onto the piston easily, walking it on with a pick. Once installed, the seal will appear stretched. Wrap the seal in at least 3 wraps of electrical tape and then install a hose clamp over the seal snugly to compress it. After about 10 minutes or so you can remove it and you’re ready to reinstall. Do not skip electrical tape or the hose clamp will cut into the seal!!!

Should have taken half the time, but I could not remove one of the pivot pins, it was frozen, I could remove the other, so I rebuilt the cylinder on the backhoe. only removing one pin. I think I need to invest in a slide sledge hammer on the next repair to remove the stuck pin.
