The amount of time and ease was mainly a result of it being my first time. Next time, might get under two hours. Messick's got the part to me faster than predicted even though it was over a weekend. Quote for re-seal was $450 and I still had to take the cylinder off the tractor and make two trips, 50 miles away to them and wait for them to "get around to-it". Instead, I opted to buy the seal, seal tool and pin spanner set. Unfortunately no spanner would fit my cylinder. I ended up cutting 1/4" bolts to fit down in the holes of the cylinder head and used 36" pipe wrench to get the head off. Worked really well. Left the cylinder on the tractor so I didn't have to remove hoses. Pulled the piston's pin to pull the piston out and then re-pinned it so I could remove the nut with the 36" pipe wrench. No vice to hold it still. It was all I could do even with the 36" and me standing on it. Doing a one gasket/seal at a time (there are 11) I could make sure the right one went in the right place and right direction. Already have 20+ hard hours on it and not a drop leaked!
