I cut a 3" hole directly over the fuel sensor. I cut a 4" diameter plate from a 4" electric box to cover the hole. The replacement part was mostly plastic so the rust issue should be solved. If it does need replacement again the install could be finished in less than an hour.

Mark a few of the screw holes on the old sensor with a paint marker then mark the same holes on the new sensor. The new one will be at the right position in side the tank.

Remove forward/reverse pedal first, 2 bolts, then remove floor pan before attempting to remove rear sheet metal.

You need to lift the rear fender to get at the sending unit which is on the left side of the tractor just behind the cup holder on a BX25. It really helps if you have someone help you remove and install the rollover bar. A flat pry-bar works pretty good to remove the control lever handles.
