Installation Tips
Probably took me longer than necessary because this was my first time messing with hydraulic systems and I went very slowly and methodically, but it was fairly straightforward. However, the instructions are not the best I've ever seen -- especially for a first time tractor owner. I highly recommend viewing a YouTube video on rear remote installation on the "Biffs Equipment" channel. His tractor is a BX2370 but the install is about 95% the same and it helps a LOT to get a good visual overview of where everything goes. IMHO, the pictures in the written instructions are too small and also "cluttered", especially if you are new to hydraulic operation and terminology. Also, I strongly recommend sorting and identifying all of the parts ahead of time. For me, it helped a lot to get a big piece of butcher paper and write the part number next to each part. Spread them out in the same relative locations as the picture -- especially if you are not a pro. This will also help you find any missing parts before you have the tractor disassembled. I was missing a few small hardware items, but Messick's promptly replaced them. Overall, the kit works great and I'm glad I installed it, but I'm not crazy about how far the connectors stick out -- they are dangerously close to my Quick Hitch. Especially with the hydraulic top link retracted (which is the main reason I needed the rear remotes). Also, minor quibble, I was surprised the kit did not include a decal to identify the control handles (it did include one next to the connectors themselves). Not Messick's fault -- it was not even on the parts list.

I recommend that Messicks write their own assembly an installation procedure. The kubota procedure is not that great, an some of the pictures were poor. I also suggest that a list of required tools needed to complete the installation be listed.

The kit was straightforward and simple to install. There are YouTube videos that show this kit being installed on a similar tractor and it was a pretty good How-To to get an idea of what I’d be dealing with. I highly recommend dumping all the parts out on a table or workbench to make sure you have everything (I had one extra hydraulic elbow in the kit) and partially assembling the valve body. I also recommend leaving the bolts and bulkhead fittings loose on the rear mounting plate until you get the ends of the hydraulic tubing tightened in place on the valve body. Some of the valve body fittings had to be removed or loosened and rotated out of the way so I could get a wrench past them to tighten another fitting. It is a very compact and tightly configured valve body so there isn’t much room to move. The only other issue I found is the upper linkage on the outer valve handle rubbed against the plastic slot, but that is easily remedied by bending it to the left a bit. As always, check your hydraulic fluid level when you get done and add as needed because some oil will drip out of the hoses you had to remove, plus many get installed that are empty.
