Have a helper hold the knob while you tighten the nut from under the tractor. Use a lock type nut so this part won't fall off after 1 hour of use on a new mower deck like mine did.

Recommend replacing the stock M10-1.25 flange nut with a nylon insert lock nut. Will likely have to order this on-line as most small & big box hardware stores do not carry it. Do not forget to include the washer on the upper bracket (download a parts diagram). Lube in lithium grease and line it up over the hole with forceps to get it to stay in place before inserting the control arm and knob. Also grease the back side of the cam that fits against the bracket. Once the nut is tightened, recommend wiggling the knob back and forth to get the cam to seat in the hole, then retighten the lock nut. About 1/4" should protrude from the threads when fully seated. There will be a small amount of play in the cam and knob when finished. If the knob is too hard to turn, the retention arm that rests against the grooves on the side of the cam can be bent back a bit. Do this carefully and in small increments. If bent too far out, the knob will spin freely and not desired. Get a second set of hands to work the top knob when installing if you can get one, it will make the job go faster.
