You may have to reach under the fender and put pressure on the back side of the taillight fixture when inserting and tightening the screws.

I was surprised to find that the lens and the lamp housing clamp into the fender. There is no separate fastener for the holder. You just have to make sure that the edge of the housing is pulled over the edge of the lens for a watertight seal.

Don't over tighten screws! Remove the black plastic trim piece and fit the lip of the lens in before replacing the lens and trim as one. Then don't over tighten the screws.

Make sure the rubber part around the lens is warmed before trying to install lens.The lens fits in a groove in the rubber backing and if it is cold its very stiff. warming the rubber part helps the lens start right in this groove

Reinstall rubber trim around new lens making sure rubber is well seated onto new lens. Support light bulb fixture from behind with free hand as you start screws. Don't over tighten mounting screws.
