Installation Tips

Make sure it is well mounted on the one mounting bolt. It seems that when it breaks loose, the wires get pulled and the failure.

The controller sits behind the gauges. Use a flat bladed screwdriver. Insert into the 2 slots at top between the cowling and gauges. Gently twist until loose. Reach behind and unscrew tachometer cable. Locate controller and remove 1 screw. Install new and tape the connection. Clean out mouse nest and put back together. It can be frustrating finding out why the machine quit running. If you can't seem to locate problem and it's not fuel or safety switches, bite the bullet and replace the controller. My machine is over 20 years old, and this is the 3rd controller. It happens but is easy fix.

Pop dash loose with flat screwdriver at 2 tab openings on top of dash and adjust rubber boot of steering wheel to allow dash to be pulled out. Under hood, open metal band that secures speedometer cable to allow dash to move freely and bungee dash up to allow room to access controller. Small ratchet and 10mm socket for bolt removal, unplug old, reinstall new in reverse order and you’re done!

(B7800) -Located on a bracket attached to the bonnet under the dash. Kubota installed the controller with a single bolt which contributed to the failure mode. I manufactured a support plate out on .060 aluminum to help support the new controller which also allowed using 2 fasteners for the install. Remove the single screw forward of the steering wheel, remove steering wheel and gromment, (use a puller for the steering wheel) lift the dash straight up approx half inch and move back enough to gain access to electrical connections and tach drive cable. Remove dash assy. I used this opportunity to ring out all the sensors and switches, along with repairing some chaffed wiring, and cleaning electrical connectors. Replaced controller and reassembled. Works great. No more jumping the starter solenoid with a screwdriver.

You need to remove instrument cluster, hazard switch connector, ignition connector, throttle pin and arm, and tachometer cable in order to get access. The controller only takes 5 minutes or less. The rest of the time is gaining access and re-assembly.
