Installation Tips

(10 minutes)
Tools: Arbor press, a 6" flex rule or straight edge and a good eye. Use the 6" flex rule to line up the key on the output shaft to the keyway on the pulley. Make sure to start the shaft squarely into the bore on the pulley. It should press on easily. (I don't recommend driving the shaft on with a hammer. You could bur the ends of the splines making it difficult to get the bevel gear and shaft to mate properly!)

Used an old electric skillet with hydraulic oil in it to heat the pulley to about 300*f, pulley slides right on.

Install went well, I was a little concerned about lining up the key with the groove on the pulley. The new key was rounded on the ends and although it wasn’t perfectly aligned the rounded end of the key allowed it to align properly when pressing it on.

Major surgery. Make sure you remove the mower blade and the small snap ring on the shaft first. Then you can get everything else from the top. Installing this onto the bevel shaft requires a shop press.
