For reference, take a picture of deck belt prior to removal, focus on how the belt is threaded thru the pulleys. Remove idler pulley spring with a spring puller hook tool, Remove nuts from gear box mounting bracket (0ne side only). Install new belt. Replace gear box bracket nuts and idler pulley spring.

The tensioner spring is super strong. To get it on, I tie a piece of cord to the spring and the other end of the cord to a two or three foot lever (wood, steel, what ever). Put one end of the lever against the mower and pull on the other end until the spring is in the right place.

couldn't use pipe wrench on tensioner pulley to throw in slacks after removing old belt[it all but fell off]I released the tension spring, put the belt on all and used rope blocks on spring to get in place.
