#808-129C 6 3/4" Flat Idler Pulley

My deck is 25 years old. Heated the bottom of the shaft until it was almost red hot. Unscrewed the bolt. Put anti seize on the bolt and put it back together. Easy.

Straight forward. Remove bolt and nut. Replace pulley and install bolt and nut. Since the old bearing failed the belt came off so the belt had to be re-installed. The most difficult part was reloading the spring on the idler pulley arm. The easiest way to do this was unbolt the eye hook, install belt and reinsert eye bolt and torque it back to original location. This would be much easier to accomplish if the eye bolt was 1/2 inch longer.

The idler pulley with the spring tension was straight forward, the one that is under the gearbox bracket is a little more difficult, I ended up taking the gearbox bracket/ with gearbox attached off. Easy to change now, and as a bonus was simple to drain and refill the gearbox with new oil. I used two ratchet straps to get the gearbox bracket lined up for the bolts. I did it this way so I could leave the spring tension on the idler pulley.
