Someone over tightened the retaining nut that holds the outer seal, it expanded the metal gland so upon pulling out the rod , the gland housing damaged the threads. I had to work the nut in and out to straiten the threads. Tightening the nut past compressing the rubber gland will not stop any gland leak, if it is leaking use spacers placed inside the gland housing to get more compression of the gland for a tighter seal, if that does not stop the leak, replace the gland don't be an idiot like the person who worked on mine thinking tightening the outer seal housing past where you feel metal seat against metal makes it seal better. Make sure the nut screws in easy all the way in the threads before installing it on the rod. Then when it is all installed only tighten the nut till you feel it get firm, going past that cranking down will damage the gland housing. Mine was so mashed down by the idiot working on it last, I had to turn the gland housing on my lathe about 50 thousandths yo get it to go back in.
BLANCHARD, OK
