Overall job rating—easy. Time to complete—1.25 hours. Installing the neutral starting switch is relatively easy and straightforward. Step 1: disconnect your battery leads. A deep well 1 1/4” socket is required to remove the old switch and replace the new switch. The greatest amount of time required is completely scraping off the old gasket and properly preparing both surfaces. I used a new gasket and did not use any further gasket sealers or “RTV”. I would advise slightly crimping the electrical connectors before reattaching to the leads on the new neutral switch in order to ensure a complete connection. The wires will get stretched a little while replacing the transmission/gear shift cover. Also, use this opportunity to clean and ensure a complete connection to the electrical connectors upstream of the neutrals switch wiring. Last step before starting the tractor is to reconnect your battery leads of course. I would advise that you start the tractor the first time from the tractor seat and make sure the new switch is functioning properly.
