Installation Tips

Remove oil filter and oil dipstick prior to removal of old draincock. I used a clear siphon pump tube to flush and clean the draincock port prior to installing the new one. I used Teflon tape on the threads on new draincock.

My machine is 22 years old, had a trickle leak of coolant from the 6 o’clock position. Note - coolant will rapidly expel once drain is removed. I used industrial pipe sealant starting with the second thread and tightened with 27mm open end wrench leaving the drain in the 4 o’clock position.

Took 27 mm socket and milled a slot in it to clear water port and unbolted the fuel filter and raised it up for clearance. Did not disconnect fuel lines.

old one was leaking and broke taking it out. Use a curved pick to clean the threads on the block then use a copper nipple, same threads to finish cleaning..then installed the new one with some anti seize ...

Fuel filter needs to come off for access. Original fitting on my 1987? 1520 this piece was just an elbow. The new piece incorporates the petcock. With the petcock closed antifreeze from the radiator side leaks past the threads if not sealed. I suggest replacing the petcock screw with a short -1/4" long bolt and sealant so it works just as an elbow like the original.
