Installation Tips

Installed on a 1999 NH 1920 4wd. You don’t have to take cylinder off. Unbolt it from front spindle, turn tire out of the way, unscrew cylinder cap, remove snap ring and pull out. Catch oil with pan. The kit works with one exception. The inside wipe rod seal doesn’t fit. It’s too big and won’t fit in the back of cylinder cap. Reinstalled with everything except above. No leaks but expect it to leak again. I really only needed the outside wipe rod seal to prevent my leak but had to buy the whole kit.

Can be done without removing the cylinder from the tractor. Loosen spanner first, large channel lock pliers work well also. Mine is a 4x4 so I just had to loosen the two bolts at center pivot after removing steering knuckle end and then the cylinder swings away enough to remove cylinder shaft. My vice would not hold the seal retainer well enough for using my seal remover so I had to cut the outer seal with a dremel in a few areas. Use a floor jack to evenly get the center pivot back in place. 1997 Ford/New Holland 1720

Fairly easy install for a shade tree mechanic. Was able to replace the seals and o-rings with the tractor still on the trailer, and I didn’t even have to completely remove the cylinder. Just loosened things up enough to get the rod end off it’s connection point.

So easy to do, dont even unbolt the ram cylinder. Just undo outer collar, slip out rod and piston, easy peasy!!

easy install once you get the gland nut off...careful you don't rough up the inside of the nut taking the outer seal off and carefully tap the new one into place
