For removal, the U-joint bottoms out on the yolk ears before the cap can be fully pressed out when pressing the cap on the opposite side. Use vise grips to grab top of cap to finish pulling it out of the yolk. Don't continue pressing from the opposite side to force the cap the rest of the way out or you may damage the yolk ears.
