Clean up the area removing all the old grease and dirt from all around the u-joint. Very important. Once you get the joint apart you'll be working with the drive shaft and yoke. Dirt and sand will fall into the cups if not cleaned. Once cleaned, remove the C-Clips. Replacing u-joints can be a very easy task with a press. Not many people have presses in their garage. I used an old socket sized slightly smaller than the u-joint cup. Put the drive on a solid surface supporting the underside of the u-joint but allowing the cup on the bottom to be driven out. Hammer or press the cup down so the bottom cup pushing thru. Grab carefully with a pair or plier and slowly twist and pull the cup the rest of the way out. It will pull out easily once it has been pressed out. Turn the shaft over and bang or press out the other side. DO NOT BANG on the universal itself. Use the outside edges of the yoke alternating sides and bang the other cup out. Reverse the procedure to install the cups into the new shaft. Before you put the yoke on the new shaft, use steel wool to clean the surface rust out of the new shaft so the cups press in without binding.
