I place the spring on the hay dog and insert the dog & spring. Don't hook the spring tabs on the baler when inserting. It's easier to line up and install the bold with zero spring tension. Once the bolt is in place and the night is started, you can use a large screwdriver or smaller prybar to pry the spring tabs into place.
