Set to desired initial length before installing. Does not ratchet unless it has resistance (ie it does not ratchet until installed). I believe that it ships ungreased. Grease liberally, including exposed threads. If installed on a B2320, you need a slightly longer pin for the bottom.

Measure pin to pin on the left side link. Unscrew both ends of the lift rod until you get close to the same length. This will save you a bunch of ratcheting after putting the lift rod in place.
