BX1880 / BX2380 / BX2680 Owner Service Guide

The engine oil filter is replaced at the first 50 hours and then every 200 hours, at the same time as the engine oil change. Drain the oil first, change the filter, then refill. Kubota specifies a genuine Kubota filter for these engines.

Warning. Stop the engine before replacing the filter. Oil in the filter can be hot enough to burn; let the engine cool first.

Replacing the filter

Drain the engine oil. See engine oil change.
Place the drain pan under the filter. Remove the filter with a filter wrench.
Wipe the filter mounting surface on the engine clean. Make sure the old filter's rubber seal came off with it.
Put a film of clean engine oil on the rubber seal of the new filter.
Thread the new filter on by hand quickly until the seal contacts the mounting surface.
Tighten it by hand an additional 1/2 turn. Do not use the filter wrench to tighten it.
Fill the engine with oil, start it, and check that no oil leaks from the filter seal.
Stop the engine and recheck the level. The level drops a little after a new filter fills; top it up to the upper notch on the dipstick.
