Wheel bolts and nuts loosen over time, especially on a new tractor or after a wheel has been removed. A loose wheel damages the disc and hub and can come off. Kubota calls for checking the torque every 50 hours, and after any wheel is reinstalled: after the first 200 m (200 yards) of driving, again after 8 hours, then every 50 hours.

Torque specifications
| Location | Torque |
|---|---|
| Front wheel bolts | 110 to 132 ft-lbs |
| Rear wheel nuts | 80 to 96 ft-lbs |
The front and rear specifications are different. Setting the wrench to the front value and using it on the rear will overtighten the rear nuts.
Wheel fasteners on a new tractor can loosen in the first hours of use, which is why the first checks come so soon after delivery.
Checking the torque
- Set the torque wrench to the low end of the range for the wheel being checked: 110 ft-lbs for the front, 80 ft-lbs for the rear.
- Tighten each bolt or nut until the wrench clicks. If it clicks before the fastener turns, that fastener is at torque.
- If any fastener turns, bring all the fasteners on that wheel to torque in a crisscross pattern, then go around once more to confirm.
- Repeat on all four wheels.
If a fastener keeps loosening, or a disc shows elongated or polished bolt holes, have the wheel inspected before further use.
Removing and installing a wheel
Front
- Park on firm, level ground and chock the rear wheels.
- Block the front axle so it cannot pivot.
- Place the jack under the front axle case at the jack point shown, raise the wheel, and support the axle on a stand.
Rear
- Park on firm, level ground and chock the front wheels.
- Block the front axle so it cannot pivot.
- Place the jack under the frame at the jack point shown, raise the wheel, and support the tractor on a stand.
Installation
Tread width is fixed on these tractors. Do not turn the wheel discs around to get a wider tread; mounting a wheel the wrong way can damage the transmission. Mount each wheel the way it came off. Factory tread width is 930 mm (36.6 in.) front and 820 mm (32.2 in.) rear.
Wheels with beveled or tapered holes use tapered bolts. Tighten the fasteners in a crisscross pattern to the torque above, then recheck after 200 m (200 yards) of driving, again after 8 hours, and then every 50 hours.
