BX1880 / BX2380 / BX2680 Owner Service Guide

The BX has seven lubrication points that Kubota calls for every 50 hours: one grease fitting on the speed control pedal, four rear link pivots, the hood lock and the hood guide rod. Only the speed control pedal has a grease fitting. The other six points are greased by hand. If the tractor is run in very wet or muddy conditions, grease more often.

Speed control pedal

The grease fitting is on the speed control pedal pivot on the right floorboard, between the forward and reverse pedal pads.

  1. Wipe the fitting clean so dirt is not pushed into the pivot.
  2. Push the grease gun coupler onto the fitting.
  3. Pump grease until fresh grease comes out around the pivot.
  4. Remove the gun and wipe off the excess grease.

If the fitting will not take grease, replace it. It is a standard Kubota grease fitting, 67211-42942.

Rear link

The rear link has four pivot points, marked A through D below. They have no grease fittings. Apply a moderate amount of grease between each rod and the hole it passes through, and between the stays at point D. Work the linkage by hand afterward to spread the grease, and wipe off the excess so it does not collect dirt.

Hood lock and hood guide rod

Open the hood. Apply a moderate amount of grease to the moving parts of the hood lock and to the hood guide rod where it slides. Open and close the hood a few times to spread the grease.

Other moving parts

While greasing, work each lever and pedal through its travel. If one is stiff from rust or debris, clean it and apply oil or grease at the pivot. Do not force a stuck lever or pedal; forcing it can bend the linkage.
